Guns & Roses

No, I am not wielding a shot gun in this post, but I bet you wish I were. Guns are gray, and roses can be pink; my outfit is pink and gray. Look at that.

Today was ninth grade orientation, so I met two classes worth of my babies. Oh, they're so darn cute. (I say that now, but I might change my tune in a month once they've shoved unimaginable disgustingness into my desks and started attaching all of my paperclips together in order to build a jumprope--true story.) I'm teaching the siblings of my previous students. Can I just tell you how old that makes me feel? I've decided that once I start teaching the children of my previous students, it's time for me to throw in the towel. Granted, with the hub bub that all of those teen mom shows have created, I might be teaching my students' children before I know it. Shudder.

Anyway, I wanted to look presentable. I figured shorts would not scream, "I'm your teacher! Listen to me!" However, I am not entirely sure that pink pants do either, but, damnit, they're cute...even if they did come from a store where many of my teenagers shop. Don't.judge.me. One of my previous students (who will be a senior this year! *sniff sniff*) told me, "Why are you always so cute?" I thought that meant my outfit was a win, and I even picked it out in my troll-like state this morning. I'm so proud.

Sewing Machine Hates Me, So I Made These.

Welcome to Today's Projects:
(note: both of these projects were pinspired. I saw the pictures on Pinterest, but I didn't take the time to read the tutorials. I figured it out on my own.)

Project #1: Take an old Izze bottle (I especially like the ones from Chipotle because they're bigger than the ones that come in a six pack), hot glue a word of your choice (it's situated at the entrance to our house and I didn't want a long word, so I picked "hi"), spray paint the bottle, and stick a flower in it (mine is fake because I have a black thumb).
Note: Practice writing the word of your choice with the glue gun. I used a paper plate to practice.

Project #1 Materials:
* Old glass bottle
* Hot glue gun
* Spray paint
* Flower

Wedding Dress Three Ways

In honor of my upcoming wedding anniversary on August 20th, I thought I'd dedicate a post to the dress that symbolizes the day the Wo (the "she") merged with the We (the "he"), and we became "WoWe."

 I'm pretty lucky.
I've worn my wedding dress for three, yes three, occasions.
Well, not counting when I tried it on...
What's up, bra?

Anyway, we spent a little over a thousand for the dress, veil, and hair piece. I consider that a job well done, especially for a dress that I wore THREE times. My dad must be so proud :)

Filing Cabinet Makeover

So, I bought this filing cabinet when I was in college. This beast has withstood nine years with me. It deserves a medal. Instead of a medal, I bought it a new coat.
Yes, the date is even written on the inside. The "carpenters" who constructed it left me a little note on the back of it.
Looks like you don't know what number to call for a good "screw." What a shame.
Anyway, I am already painting the other nightstand. I did not want to paint another piece of furniture, so I decided to do the same thing I did to the light plates: Mod Podge the crap out of it! Actually, I used Mod Podge on only the front side of both drawers.

What Did I Use?
* One gnarly, old filing cabinet
* Screwdriver (to remove handles)
* Foam brushes (to apply Mod Podge)
* Mod Podge (matte finish)
* New handles (I killed the originals)
* Paper from an old book
* Paper cutter (who has time for scissors?)

50 Shades of Blue

Today, I was feeling monochromatic (no, not blue even though school is starting up again soon, so I should be blue). Dare I tell you that even my undergarments are blue? Overshare? Oops.
Please excuse the lamp cord.
This spot is the only one in my upper level that's not being crowded by a project or a pile of yard sale items.
Oh, these shoes. I found these puppies for a whopping 13 beans. Can you believe it? Well, believe it. I happy danced all the way to the check-out line. I am not sure I can happy dance in them though; I might break my face because I'm a little out of practice when it comes to wearing heels.

P.S. I love that my camera has a "make me Jersey Shore tan" feature. I wish I could click a button in real life and look like I actually hung out with the sun this summer.
Oh well, pale is the new tan.  Or so I tell myself.

New Blog Banner

This awesome lady over at Clover Lane is the reason I now have a pretty sweet banner for my blog. (Click the blog title to check it out.)

The creative genius is all mine, but the tools to make that genius happen definitely came from her tutorial, which is incredibly well-written and easy-to-follow. Thank you!

Stripes & Brights

This outfit isn't very creative, but dang, it was comfortable. I wore it for dinner on my parents' deck :)

We arrived at my parents' house, and my dad said, "Whoa! I need to get my sunglasses." Thanks, Dad. I like my obnoxiously bright shirt, thank you very much. In fact, I fell asleep in it last night. I'm writing this post while I wear my slept-in, annoyingly florescent shirt. I might be the only person who wears her nightlight.
