Wish me luck on my cleanse.

I found my perfect floral shirt. Aren't the colors so vibrant and lovely? You're seeing it for the first time here even though I've had it for almost a month. Also, you're seeing proof as to why I should wear sunglasses for all daytime pictures. What's up, squinty?

The end of the school year is winding down quite nicely. My sophomores' speeches are hysterical. On purpose. My juniors' debates started out swimmingly. Their progress this year astonishes me. I just finished writing a letter to my AP classes, which I may share with you next week. (I am almost finished writing a personal note to each student in those classes.) Should I finish writing my exams first? Probably. Whatever. It'll all get done on time. Fear not.

You know what's weird? Being thin and telling people you're going on a cleanse. I don't think that most people understand cleanses serve greater purposes than losing weight. Like recovering from three months of antibiotics and trying to force your system into recovery. I'm essentially trying to hit the restart button on my body. Every damn time I take antibiotics, I get thrush/some crazy yeast overgrowth. What feeds yeast? Sugar. And carbs that turn into sugar if not burned off quickly enough. Now, without a gall bladder, I cannot survive on juice cleanses. My system would revolt and shut down. We can't have that. So, for three days, I shall be eating just vegetables, steamed or raw. Luckily, I've never met a vegetable I didn't like. Wish me luck. I'll probably want a handful of strawberries by lunchtime tomorrow. Who am I kidding? I'll want them by breakfast.

  2. Good luck on that cleanse, chica! I have done a few (mine have been for weight loss purposes) and I turn into a total grump. Hangry is definitely a thing.

  3. Good luck on your cleanse! I've always been interested in trying one, so I'm very interested to see how yours turns out! I really love your outfit too! Your sandals are such a pretty shade of green and your floral top is so fun!

  4. Good luck on your cleanse! I've thought of starting one countless times, but then I ate some processed food instead. Happy weekend :)

  5. Just veggies? I couldn't do it, but good luck! I wore this almost exact outfit a month or so ago... black skinny slacks, a button up floral blouse with every color of the rainbow in it, yellow wedge sandals, and a blue cardi. Oh, and a pony tail! Great minds dress alike! ;) Maybe I'll get around to this whole blogging thing again and post that outfit one day because I did actually take pictures of it.

  6. I like vegetables, too, but I don't eat enough of them. Not sure I could go three days on only veggies. Maybe one day. Maybe. If I was still allowed to eat my M&Ms in the evening. :-) Good luck! What I mean by that is, "I hope it goes as planned and that you don't have terrible cravings", not, "You'll never make it, ha ha, good luck."

I think my grammar/punctuation is wrong. Whenever I comment on your blog I'm so aware of it, and I think it's probably always wrong. Sigh. Just like writing emails to my mom. She is also an English Major. Technically I am, too, but let's just forget that part.

  7. Hope the cleanse is going well. I bought a juicer today, so I'm trying to figure out how that whole situation works. I don't think I'll do a full juice cleanse, but hopefully start getting more fruits and veggies into my body.

  8. Good luck! I think that the first thing that comes to mind when I hear "cleanse" is some liquid fad diet. But an all vegetable cleanse sounds just right. I did something similar a few years ago after a round of antibiotics messed me all up. It was really helpful in getting me back on track and actually helped change my eating habits in the long run.
P.S. I LOVE this floral top! It's so bright and fun!

  9. That floral top is just gorgeous! I'm so glad you were able to find the perfect one after such a long search!

It's funny you should say that. I recently went on the Candida Diet for a week which is to help starve off the yeast in your gut. You're supposed to go for about a month but I couldn't do it. I'm also not entirely sure it would have helped my health issues. Oh who am I kidding, I missed coffee way too much. If you just need to starve off yeast, you can also have proteins from meat or eggs and I ate quinoa with every meal. I'd look into it so you don't just have to live off veggies. How long is the cleanse for?

  10. Love love love those sandals! I have a pair of franco sarto booties and I am obsessed.

I think eating only veggies is a legit cleanse! I definitely couldn't do a liquid diet, but I think actually chewing something will be really good, mentally. Best of luck!

  11. DANG IT. I just wrote you a nice long comment, and it got eaten by the internet, haha. Here's the gist:

    1. Good luck with your cleanse - I am like a 5 year old when it comes to veggies and basically only like broccoli, green beans, and carrots (and they have to be cooked), so I probably wouldn't be able to survive on solely veggies for any amount of time, haha.
    2. Your outfit is fantastic - the top has the best, bright colors, and I'm digging those shoes.
    3. I'm super excited to read the letter you wrote to your AP students - you're the greatest teacher!!
