Marshmallow

The heating in my classroom "magically" went from frigid to comfortable.  I wore this outfit before I realized the metamorphosis that had taken place. Needless to say, I ditched the vest for the remainder of the school day, but the inside is lined with this very soft cotton, which felt quite nice to lean against when I sat in my desk chair.

I decided to keep things pretty simple. You know what happened as a result? About fifteen people complimented my outfit. Just like we tell our students when they combine sentences, it's best to follow the KISS principle: keep it simple, stupid. Another teacher told me that the full saying is KISS ASS. Keep it simple, stupid, and don't assume anything. I guess I should not assume a simple outfit is an unworthy outfit. Typically, my favorite outfits on other people are simple combinations I never thought to try. Or, I think, "aha! I have something just like that, and I plan to wear it tomorrow." May you feel inspired by this simple combination.

Also, random side note: I can't wear form fitting turtle necks. They make me feel like hands are around my neck. This kind of looser turtleneck, however, keeps me warm and does not make me feel like an extra on Hannibal.

  1. I love a simple look, especially with fun color combinations! I've been noticing that turtlenecks are making a comeback, but like you I always feel like I'm being choked!

  2. This is really cute! I think the bright white next to the orange just looks really sharp! I absolutely cannot wear turtlenecks at all. For starters, I feel like I'm being choked, and then there's the issue of a turtleneck just not really working with giant boobs. It just doesn't look right. More like I'm trying to shoplift some watermelons or something. Not a good look.

  3. Where does this turtleneck come from?! I love that shape and form. I agree that tight turtlenecks can be the worst, but the loose ones are superb. It's also the days that my outfits are the simplest that I get compliments from my husband. Let's start a simple revolution!

  4. Very cute! I know what you mean, I usually think simple is boring and I need to have some sort of interesting or complicated details in my outfit but I always feel best when it's simple!

  5. This outfit is adorable! I avoid turtlenecks for the same reason. I don't wear your basic crewneck tee for the same reason. I feel like I'm being choked constantly! I guess i should give ones with a looser neck a try sometime. Like your gorgeous St Johns Bay one. Love it!

  6. I totally love this outfit, Danielle!! You are one of the few very lucky people who look wonderful in orange!! And the bright white vest with your orange sweater looks super sharp. Something must have happened in the universe, because my 60 degree office just became a comfortable 75 degree office in the last couple of weeks - crazy!
