What I Wore to Work: Teacher Style

This week, I keep sitting down to write something, but my brain has farted. I cannot recover it.
My sophomores have zapped my brain cells with their ridiculous shenanigans this week.
I create a step-by-step outline for them that tells them what to write in every.single.spot, and they say, "I didn't know what to do" after it was due. Why am I not allowed to use a Nerf or water gun to pelt or spray some sense into them? WHY? Today, one student asked what to do for an assignment that I explained three times and had directions projected on the screen. (I pride myself on being really good at giving directions, but what good are directions if the person following them does not open his or her ears?) Luckily, another student responded, very sarcastically, first: "Oh, I don't know. The directions aren't on the screen or anything." Thank you, other teenagers, for saying what would have included an expletive if it came from my mouth.
I love my job, but they are trying the hell out of my patience this week.

Parent-Teacher Conferences (Part 2)

Well, if 10"+ of snow weren't staring at me from below my apartment window, this outfit is what I would be wearing for conferences tonight. Instead, I'm wearing 15-year-old pajama pants, a thermal shirt, and a North Face zipper up. (Hey, it all matches.)

So, we had conferences last night. The snow had started to fall and stick on the roads when I finally left the building after conferences. When I stepped into the parking lot, who was there? My husband. He had cleaned off my car, started it, pushed the heated seat button, and drove behind me so as to keep people off my butt. Seriously, I hit the husband jackpot. Currently, he is driving his truck to his parents' house 15-20 minutes away so that he can shovel their driveway for them. On Saturday, I have a massage appointment that's "not for Valentine's Day because we're not getting each other anything." That man's kindness never ceases to amaze me.

Okay, I'll bypass the sappiness and continue with what would have been today's outfit.

The Look:
Blazer: LOFT (on SUPER sale but very few sizes left--I got it for $32, which is quite a score for a gorgeous LOFT blazer like this one!)
Skirt: LOFT (close option from Target)
Shirt: New York and Company (really cute $9 options at Kohl's)
Tights: The Limited (can't find them online anymore)
Boots: b.o.c. via DSW (bought them almost two years ago)

I wanted to make you laugh today, so I included the following two pictures.

I'm not entirely sure what I was doing, but it wasn't bringing sexy back.

I laugh so hard. She snapped a picture of me as I disgustedly asked, "IS THAT A DEAD BIRD CARCASS IN THE TREE!?" Mom assured me it was not, but I'm still speculating.

Octopus Hairs

Do you ever fight with your hair for fifteen minutes and still look in the mirror to find the tentacles of octopus hairs staring you in the face? No? Just me? Well then, you're lucky. I guess my hair wanted to actually wave hello to blogland. Please say hello in return so that it stops waving.

The day that I wore this outfit, these pants were not in the plan. In fact, I planned to wear these really cute polka dot pants from NY & Co (cannot find them online at all), but I had a serious wardrobe malfunction. Right as I was about to leave the house, I bent down to pick up my laptop bag. I heard an unpleasant sound, which I was sure couldn't be gas coming from my pants. Yep, I split the crotch of 'em, and I had bought them only three days prior. Quickly, I ran upstairs and threw on these pants. Allow me to publicly proclaim my love for these pants. Oh, pants, you're so comfortable that you feel like pajamas, which means you were the perfect pants to wear on pajama day at school. Oh, pants, you are so comfortable that it should be a sin to wear you.

I should have washed this shirt before wearing it (oh, whatever, you do it, too) because it sort of dyed the pits of the white jacket. Dangit.

These shoes are ooooold school (momma got rid of them, so I happily took them), but they're comfortable greatness. Comfortable seems to be the word of the day, folks.

That little patch of hair on the left is practicing its princess wave.

In case you wanted a view of the shirt, I took a picture for you.
In this picture, I am trying on some clothes to replace the polka dot pants that I ended up keeping.
I'm just going to sew those bad boys.

I love everything at Gap right now, but I bought nothing. As a result, I decided that I at least needed a picture of these cute outfits. In fact, I have clothes similar to a lot of these, so I can use this picture for outfit inspiration! (You can't tell, but the pants in the middle have white polka dots on them. So stinking cute.)

My Outfit Deets:
Coat: Guess via Wilson's Leather (got it for $50 down from $280)
Pants & Shirt: Marshall's
Shoes: Naturalizer (so old that I don't know how you'd find them)--these are zebra print, which makes them fun
Blazer: White House Black Market (several years old)

Anyone else experience some wardrobe malfunctions recently?
I think I should keep a spare outfit in my classroom just in case that sort of thing happens at work.
