Cute eShakti skirt, but my midsection feels strangled.

I am beginning to realize that how good something is for you is directly proportional to how horrible it tastes. Since the doctor put me on antibiotics for nearly three months, I needed probiotics to work some miracles on my digestive tract. I opted for a five-day, super duty powder. The directions say to take it with 8oz. of water or raw juice. Having no idea what exactly "raw" juice is and knowing how terrible the powder tastes alone, I ground up some peaches and strawberries along with the powder and hoped that it wouldn't taste like...eww. I failed. Essentially, I was drinking a concoction that tasted like feet covered in fruit. Or what I imagine feet covered in fruit to taste like.

Anyway, today's skirt is courtesy of eShakti. They asked me to pick something and review it. Since I've wanted to try this company for over a year, I obviously said yes. And I obviously picked a maxi skirt because what girl doesn't love crotchless, glorified pajamas? PLUS, this one comes with pockets! Unfortunately, as pretty as the print of this skirt is, the cut is awkward. I even measured myself to make sure I was right about the numbers I entered into the system. (You can customize the clothes to fit your body, which is delightful.) Somehow, I ended up with a skirt that I have to situate several inches above my belly button, and I still feel a little suffocated. The stitching on the sides is off, too. It doesn't lay right on my hips, but my mom thinks she can fix it.

Overall, I think the skirt is gorgeous, but I don't love the fit, which is probably my fault for not reading fine print or measuring myself properly. This is the ONLY way I could think to wear it in order to cover up the unflattering fit on the hips. I would've gone with a white shirt, but you can see the skirt through it. Not a fan. Feel free to throw more suggestions my way.

  1. Hmm well the way you've styled it works perfectly! I wouldn't have known the fit was off, and the tied up tee is pretty cute. The print of this skirt is lovely, so hopefully you can get it adjusted so you like it better!

  2. I think they don't always do fit right, my first two from them were custom and didn't fit the way I'd like, the third was a stars are size, I decided to say screw it on custom and what do you know it fit. Hope your mom can make this sweet skirt comfy on you!

  3. I love the way it looks. I'm with Inge, I would've never known! I have a custom skirt from them and a standard size dress and the standard size works better for me, but I love them both.

  4. I love the print of this dress, but such a bummer the fit is off! Did you tell them? I wonder how their customer service is when things don't fit right. I mean, if you had really paid for the skirt, would you have tried to return or exchange it? I think they should do the same thing for the free items.

Also, good luck with that probiotic powder. I was hoping you had a prescription to get fro-yo every day, but apparently not!

  6. I'm with Andi, it's worth asking them to exchange it. Or maybe you already did. Well, since it's long, I'm sure your mom or a tailor can adjust it to fit. You might lose some length, though. It looks good, though!

  8. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with problems regarding the eShakti skirts. I got an adorable full pink pleated skirt that I was super excited about because I thought I would finally find a skirt to fit my abnormally large waist to hip ratio. I got it and couldn't even zip it up :( I have it ready to return and was going to pick out something else but I wonder how to ensure that it will fit.

I'm sad that your gorgeous skirt didn't fit quite right! It has gorgeous colors so I hope your momma can fix it :)
PS: I love the "crotchless pajama" comment! hahahaha

  9. ITs a fabulous skirt! I hope your mom can fix the fit--that stinks it didn't measure right! Although I had a good experience with them--I have had some other horror stories from online shops--it can be hit or miss!

  10. I like what you've done with it here! What a bummer that the fit is off. When it's not so hot out, you could wear a chambray shirt and tie it at the bottom like you did with the t-shirt. I keep thinking and let you know if I have any other ideas.
