Parent-Teacher Conferences (Part 2)

Well, if 10"+ of snow weren't staring at me from below my apartment window, this outfit is what I would be wearing for conferences tonight. Instead, I'm wearing 15-year-old pajama pants, a thermal shirt, and a North Face zipper up. (Hey, it all matches.)

So, we had conferences last night. The snow had started to fall and stick on the roads when I finally left the building after conferences. When I stepped into the parking lot, who was there? My husband. He had cleaned off my car, started it, pushed the heated seat button, and drove behind me so as to keep people off my butt. Seriously, I hit the husband jackpot. Currently, he is driving his truck to his parents' house 15-20 minutes away so that he can shovel their driveway for them. On Saturday, I have a massage appointment that's "not for Valentine's Day because we're not getting each other anything." That man's kindness never ceases to amaze me.

Okay, I'll bypass the sappiness and continue with what would have been today's outfit.

The Look:
Blazer: LOFT (on SUPER sale but very few sizes left--I got it for $32, which is quite a score for a gorgeous LOFT blazer like this one!)
Skirt: LOFT (close option from Target)
Shirt: New York and Company (really cute $9 options at Kohl's)
Tights: The Limited (can't find them online anymore)
Boots: b.o.c. via DSW (bought them almost two years ago)

I wanted to make you laugh today, so I included the following two pictures.

I'm not entirely sure what I was doing, but it wasn't bringing sexy back.

I laugh so hard. She snapped a picture of me as I disgustedly asked, "IS THAT A DEAD BIRD CARCASS IN THE TREE!?" Mom assured me it was not, but I'm still speculating.

I love my brown boots.

Welcome to another shameless dressing room selfie. I'm not entirely sure what selfie isn't somehow linked to shame, but that's a story for another day. Before I got mah hur did tonight, I stopped into LOFT to return a dress.

I exchanged it for this skirt. I love it. I've been looking for a red skirt, and this one fits like a dream. Plus, it was on the clearance rack. Double win for me.

And why do I love my brown boots?
They go with all the things (in my closet)!

I walked into LOFT wearing the following outfit:
I'd like to call this my Robin Hood color scheme. Where are my bow and arrow?
(The pants are hunter green.)

The Outfit & Details:
Cardigan: Old Navy (need more colorrrrs)
Pants: Gap (by far my FAVORITE skinny jeans. I want more. and more. and more.)
Belt: Francesca's
Top: Old Navy
Boots: Franco Sarto (favorite shoe designer) via Marshall's
Necklace: Target

Comments: I really love the colors in this outfit, and people stopped me to throw down some comments at my beautiful booted feet. I originally planned to wear a black silk top with black boots, but I changed my mind this morning. (Yes, I pick out my clothes the night before.) Good change? I think so.

Red Camel

Recently, I've been making a concentrated effort to stop neglecting pretty clothes that I've never worn. In the past, I've collected a lot of clothes that I like, but I never planned a way to wear these things. They either end up shoved into the back of my closet, prettily wasting space, or landing in a Goodwill pile. This skirt was in the back of my closet, and this sweater just took up space despite how much I liked them both. Last night, I had a little chat with my closet, and we agreed upon this outfit. Good talk, closet.

To be honest, I bought the skirt and cardigan to wear together. Sadly, I could not think of a top to wear under the cardigan. SERIOUSLY, DANIELLE? The white t-shirt has become my universal wardrobe solution. Thank you, fashion bloggers. Many items would have lost their space in my closet without this helpful bit of inspiration.

P.S. They really have been sitting, unworn, for at least one year. Probably two or three.
Hey, at least I'm still the same size.

I would like to reiterate from yesterday's post that this heel height is perfect. Just perfect.
I almost went with brown wedges today, but I'm glad I settled on a color that contrasted with the tights.

Additionally, I really like the detail on this skirt.

Please disregard my IZZE bottle.
I need to clean.
Badly.
This corner was the only mildly unscathed area of the main level. Let's be serious. It was the only mildly clean spot in the entire house.

Cardigan, Skirt, & Tights: The Limited (like I said, old)
T-shirt: Kohl's
Shoes: Candie's for Kohl's
