I won't talk about my nose today.

I gave my little social media and blog buttons a face lift over there on the right. I know. They look so much prettier. However, dear reader, do not be fooled by my apparent awesomeness. It's just procrastination in disguise. By procrastination, I mean, "I'm finally feeling well enough to grade papers during spring break, but PLEASE DON'T MAKE ME." I am sure the guilt will ensue soon enough because isn't that the life of a teacher? Well, it's the life of this teacher.

Anyway, I know I can't "cheat" the Looking Lucky challenge and double up any of the themes, so I bring you yet another look inspired by the theme "geometrics." I must confess, however, that Geometry was the only class in which I landed a C. Ever. Proofs befuddled me no matter how many times the teacher explained it. Though I think I should add that this particular teacher previously "taught" my rapscallion of an older brother. In truth, she had him in only homeroom, but he terrorized her quite effectively. For fear of narcs, I will not divulge the tomfoolery in which he engaged that may or may not have led to her eventual admittance to an institution. As such, when she taught me, I think she took one look at me and thought, "oh, damn," which may be why she seated me so close to the door that one forceful sneeze would have shot me into the hallway.
It's very hard to pay attention in the back of the class. I should know.

So, how are we feeling about white pants? And wide-leg white pants no less?

The Look:
Shirt: Old Navy (similar from Target)
Scarf: Banana Republic Outlet from Momma (I like this green and white floral one.)
Necklace: The Limited (really inexpensive at Body Central)
Shoes: via DSW (splurgespendsave)
Pants: New York & Co. (similarbootcutskinny)

I look so much sassier in this picture than I really am.

Olive Pink & Puppies

Once a week, I need to satisfy your desire to see more of my parents' puppies. This little guy is Sammy. Sammy enjoys burrowing into crotches, sleeping on heads, and eating food off of my dad's pant leg. Nothing beats visiting my parents' house on the weekend. They feed me delicious food, they offer satisfying conversation, they house two of the cutest dude pups (I clearly house the cutest lady pups), and they help me forget the mounds of essays I need to grade.

These wedges were $20 at Nine West! What? Crazy talk. Additionally, I took a little trip to Old Navy today in hopes of scoring a pair of $10 flats. None of them appealed to me; however, I scooped up a spring sweater and necklace. Would you like to know how much I paid for those two items? Yes, yes, you do. FIVE BUCKS. No, your eyes do not deceive you. I paid FIVE dollars for a sweater and a necklace. Even the cashier said that was the best deal she's seen...ever. I don't play sports, but I'm a winner.

The Look:
Vest: Forever 21 (very similar from Nordstrom)
Top: Jennifer Lopez via Kohl's (Santa Momma gave it to me! exact)
Pants: White House Black Market (at least three years old--similar from Old Navy)
Shoes: Nine West (similar)
Necklace: Lauren Conrad from Momma (very similar)

My (Recent) Life in Clothes

I cleaned out my closet.
By that, I mean I threw (only) half of the things I won't actually wear into paper bags.
They're still sitting in front of my window seat.
The other half hang in my closet, pretending I'll wear them.
I trudge through this process at least once a month.
Eventually, I think I'll actually purge my closet of the unwanteds.
Until then, my closet harbors the land of misfit clothes.
And some very cute, well fitting ones.
I feel so Lilly Pulitzer in this color scheme.

Dad turned 61. We celebrated.
I'm eating pickles to prevent myself from eating the rest of the cake Mom gave to me.
I have a feeling I'll have an acid stomach and liquid bowels before this night ends.
Wish me luck.
I wore this dress to celebrate Daddy dukes.

Meet my second-day hair. I woke up at 5 and watched Law and Order SVU until I had to leave for work. I poked my hair in a "thanks for being awesome this morning" kind of way.

Not sure I'll ever master the downward shot. Someone please tell me how you make it happen before I Google that ish. Google is already judging me because I asked it who invented the maxi skirt.
Bows and leopard print. That's about as spicy as I get.
You will not see me in stripes on stripes (despite my love for them)
or stripes on polka dots.

Speaking of maxi skirts, I'm married, but I'll kiss the inventor of maxi skirts on the lips
to thank them for creating a sartorial masterpiece that allows me to look presentable while being comfortable enough to take a nap. On public transportation. During peak hours. In NYC.
Meet my newest maxi skirt. I bought it today, and I'm showing it to you before I even ripped off the tags. I think the cashier was *this* close to making me pay for it while simultaneously shoving it under the counter to save for later. I'm pretty sure she pet it. I would too. I plan to.
Stiiiiill suck at downward shots.
Seriously, someone feed me the secret.

Enjoy your lovely evening.
I'm going to go eat pickles.

Backstreet's Back, Alright.

I bet you missed me, right?
As you should because I'M.SO.FUN.
and humble.
(And even better in real life.)

So, my best friend got married.
I wore this:
IT HAD POCKETS. WHAAAAAAT?!
One of which held a tissue covered in both the bride's and groom's snot.
If that's not love, then I don't know what is.
(I'll tell you more about it all another day...preferably one that involves more pictures!)

I also finished my monster paper for grad class. Whew, what a relief.

I can officially reenter society.

Since a lot of people complimented today's outfit, I thought I'd share it with ya.
One of my students asked me what was with my hair lately.
I responded, "This is my I-value-sleep-more-than-hair look."
Anyone else have those 'dos? This one has withstood the test of time.
It was my trusty 'do in high school, too.
Gosh, I'm cool.

Aaaaand, you're welcome.

Outfit Details:
Shirt: Express (similar)
Cardigan: NY & Co. (similar)
Pants: NY & Co. (similar)
Shoes: Aerosoles via Marshall's (similar)
Belt: Target

And it was all yellow...

Okay, it was not all yellow. There was some navy and white, too.  I just like that Coldplay song, so I thieved it for the purposes of my post's title.

Why, when a casual Friday stares me in the face and I'm given a free pass to wear blue jeans, do I opt for a less-than-casual outfit? Now, some of you might be thinking, "Ummm, Wo, that's casual, girlfran." I assure you that, in comparison to my colleagues and especially my students, this outfit is not casual for a casual Friday. I pity the teachers who have such strict dress codes. So stifling. If my students can wear booty shorts and diaphanous leggings with abandon, then I can wear my sartorial choices, none of which include exposing my derrière.

In case you wanted to see me imitate Mr. Ed, here you go...
You can't unsee that.

Outfit Deets:
Cardigan: NY & Co (I like this one.)
Blouse: current, Lauren Conrad via Kohl's (exact)
Pants: White House Black Market (cute)
Flats: Mia via DSW (a different navy pair)

Here's a close up of the shirt:
