Weekend wear

This winter, I have been sucked into the leggings abyss. I still maintain that no one should see your lady junk because of not-opaque-enough leg coverings, but I can get behind wearing leggings in public as long as my behind is covered. This outfit is just appropriate enough...for the weekend. The leggings-to-work trend is one I still find myself navigating. Typically, I opt for leggings in place of tights under shorter dresses-turned-tunics. Where does one actually buy non-tent-like tunics suitable for pairing over "work" leggings? (Despite its sarcastic leanings, this question is actually a serious one. Suggestions are appreciated.)

Also, I can see my roots. I know they exist, but I am denying the need to banish them at the moment. Since I just squeaked out far too much money on a new couch, I should wait to shell out the cash on my hair. Being an adult is tough sometimes, right?

The Look:
Vest: Gap Outlet (so old)
Top: Ann Taylor (Momma got it for me for Christmas.)
Leggings: Old Navy
Boots: Etienne Aigner
Necklace: The Limited (two years ago)

  1. I'm a recent leggings convert too! Once I shelled out the dough for some nice, thick ones, I felt okay wearing them outside of the house as long as everything was covered. But yes, for work, I'm still wearing them as replacements for tights. I found some sweater tunics at H&M that are closer in fit to a sweater dress than a giant tent haha.

  3. I'm still adjusting my feelings about leggings. I feel weird wearing them in public but they are just so dang comfortable! I also make sure to wear a longer top, though, if they are making an appearance outside of my apartment. I haven't really worn leggings to work and probably wouldn't unless they were under a dress, like you said.

  4. I actually don't even own any leggings! I really want to get a couple pairs, because some of my dresses are getting too short (you know, as the baby bump grows), and I don't feel comfortable wearing just tights. I just don't even know where to buy leggings! Maybe Old Navy, I guess?

  5. I don't wear leggings. Actually that's a lie. I have worn them under jeans when it was really really cold up in the mountains and I had to take my youth group kids there. Other than that, I don't wear them. They are not my friend. I do wear skinny jeans now, which is partly because I got tired of looking frumpy and started reading awesome blogs like yours and was inspired to try some and now I wear them a lot. I feel like a person! :-)

I think your hair still looks nice, so your roots must not be that long yet. But, I'm also looking at a picture on the computer, so.....

  6. Leggings are just so dang comfy! Some days just call for them. They're a bit classier than yoga pants with the same level of comfort. I don't mind showing off the shape of my behind but I prefer my lady parts to be covered In front. I have outfit pics with a long cardigan but the front isn't covere . I'm not quite sure how I feel about posting pictures like that. You can't see anything but I just feel so exposed! This outfit is the right way to wear them. Keep rocking those leggings!

  7. The ponte leggings at Kohls, or Ann Taylor Loft are great! They're super thick so you can't see through them. They are more expensive though- roughly $20 at Kohl's but I'm not sure about Ann Taylor.

  8. I'm with ya on the leggings girl! I have a pair of fleece lined ones that aren't see through at all. I ALWAYS always make sure my front and behind are fully covered when wearing them though! I actually have a few tunic shirts that cover well from Old Navy. Two I got last winter and 2 I got this winter. I think I've seen some non tent like tunics on Groopdealz.
