I wore this skirt two years ago.

"Ms. Wo, you have so many styles!" That is the first greeting I received from a student in the hallway today. As I trudged to my classroom, I considered the legitimacy of this claim. Yesterday, I wore tall, patterned wedges, a sleeveless sweater, a shirt with fun sleeves, and shorts. Today, I'm wearing a white skirt with my Converse sneakers and bicycle necklace. Tomorrow, I might wear gray slacks with a blazer. Kid, you're right: I do have so many "styles." Of course, I would say that I just like to experiment, for which I suppose this blog can take quite a bit of credit.

Although posting pictures of my outfits sometimes seems vain ("everybody, come see how good I look!"--one of the only Will Ferrel quotes I like) and often makes me feel pressured not to be "boring" in what I wear, it also encourages me to think differently about what's in my closet and allow it to verbalize how I'm feeling that day. Today, I felt fun and funky, much like Punky Brewster, an allusion I hope is not lost on you, dear reader.

Anyway, I'm walking to the gym and then doing some yoga. I wish I were as cool as I sometimes make myself sound.

The Look:
Shirt: Old Navy
Skirt: Old Navy
Shoes: Converse via DSW
Necklace: American Eagle
Cardigan: via thredUP

Knees.

I call this my "everybody, come see how good I look!" pose.

I should not make myself laugh as much as I do, but there you have it.

Mom: "Twirl!"
Me: ..............this.

I wore this skirt way back when I started this blog, and it went something like this:
This picture sort of makes me think about cutting my hair a bit shorter. Hmm...
(I just checked. This post is from just about two years ago!)

  1. I'm really digging this outfit. And that's weird, because blog comments make me say word like "digging" which I would never say in real life. And you totally look like a classy/modern Punky Brewster!

  2. Your hair is cute both ways, and I don't think you're vain.

  3. Hahaha if you're vain, then we're all vain together! Sure, who doesn't like to be complimented on their outfits by internet strangers/friends? It makes us feel good. Plus, I like having visual proof of an awesome outfit I wore. Just sayin.

I think it's great that as a teacher, you get so much freedom in what you can wear. Tall wedges and shorts one day, a skirt and tee with Converse the next. It's pretty sweet that your students notice your awesome outfits. I can't say I ever paid attention to any of my high school teachers outfits. That must mean they weren't dressing well enough, or should I say interesting enough to notice. If students compliment you, then you know you're doing something right :)

  5. I LOVE SKIRTS + SNEAKERS. (I'm not yelling, I'm just really passionately telling you about my love for skirts + sneakers, hahaha). I agree with what Inge said - the skirt you're wearing is fantastic, and I love that blogging has helped me explore different styles as well!! It puts the fun back in fashion :)
