I'm so smart I scare myself.

So, I wore this open cardigan this way last December. This time around, creativity tipped its hat to me, so I [brilliantly] decided to wrap it around me and belt it. My Uncle David always said this line to me: "I'm so smart I scare myself." Obviously, I scared him sometimes, too. He also refers to things as being "beautimous." Not sure if anyone else ever says this word, but good ol' Uncle David does. Look at that: my beautimous outfit is so smart I scare me. I kindly thank you, fashion blogs, for inspiring me to rethink my wardrobe.

I need you to know that these boots are the most comfortable boots to ever grace my feet. Holy cannoli. They're b.o.c. brand, and I bought them on SUPER sale at DSW. Sometimes, that store just blows me giant, sloppy kisses with its awesome finds like this one and these awesome gold flats. I was going to wear these really cute black booties from my mom (she always gives me shoes she realizes she can't wear--hooray for being the same size!), but they looked weird with the jeans. I already turned out all of the lights upstairs; I wasn't about to rethink my pant situation.

The Outfit:
Cardigan: Urban Outfitters
Belt: Pac Sun
Jeans: The Limited
Boots: b.o.c. via DSW
Earrings: Target

The Details:
Occasion: Forty of the students and a handful of the teachers participated in what's called Safe School Ambassador program. It was an all-day, informal setting in our school's media center. (Such an enriching experience. Truly.) The media center is usually one of the cooler parts of the building, so I dressed for the venue. I could move around comfortably, and I wasn't too hot.

Comments: The students loved this sweater, and I especially loved it styled this way. When I snuck into the hallway for a bathroom break, one of my previous students informed me that I was going to take her shopping. I agreed that I will take her shopping when she graduates next year; she seemed quite satisfied, and I am a woman of my word. Let it be known that I felt a *smidge* like a high schooler because I was sporting clothing from both UO and Pac Sun.

  2. This sweater is so "beautimous!" I really like it styled open and with your belt. I have a pair of B.O.C. boots too and they are the most comfortable pair I own. If ever I know I'm going to walking around a whole lot, those are the boots I wear.

  3. It is such a cute sweater! I was told today that I was a student's fashion hero. :) I wrote about it in my blog, since it was probably the worst day ever to tell me that LOL!

  4. My husband says "beautimous" sometimes. I think he got it from reading Fancy Nancy to our daughter. B.O.C. sandals are incredibly comfortable as well!

  7. I said it in a previous post, I'll say it again. I love this. I also didn't realize this is the infamous UO cardigan (I feel like a lot of other people have it, or something similar to it in black and white). I like that it's not black and white. Hooray for you and your lucky finds at DSW!

Also, I can relate to escaping battle cries of video games (re: the December post). It's not Call of Duty here-- it used to be Halo, and now it's Grand Theft Auto. Boys.

  8. I love everything about this, Danielle! Those boots are awesome - I love b.o.c. shoes! They are so comfortable, and I want 100 pairs of them. I'm in the market for some new shoes (like nice, comfortable new shoes/boots for the winter), and b.o.c. is one of my favorite go-to brands. I want to find boots just like yours!

  9. I cannot get over how much I love this outfit. As I have told you before, that sweater is one of my very favorite things I have ever laid my eyes on. The color and awesome aztec pattern make a lovely combination here. I really can't get over how good it looks wrapped and belted like that. You can count on my copying the look with my aztec cardigan. I'll give you full credit :) And lastly those boots are BEAUTIFUL! Exactly what I'm looking for in a black leather boot. Little heel, sleek design, not too much hardware, and aren't BOC made for comfort? Perfect.
