Let me show you my hot pants since I'm not too hot.

So, this past Thursday, I had sinus surgery. The doctor had to fix my deviated septum, bone spur, and clean out my completely clogged sinus cavity. After the surgery, he told Jeff what was happening inside my face. Apparently, my septum was so severely deviated that it totally blocked my left sinus cavity, making it impossible for anything to drain. Essentially, I was on antibiotics for seven weeks for no reason because the infection couldn't clear if it had nowhere to go. He tried to aerate the passages next to my tear ducts, but there was too much inflammation. He found a lot of "diseased" tissue, among other disgusting things, in my sinus cavity.

Today, the doctor unpacked my nose. OH MY GOSH. I do not want to gross you out, so I will not give you the details. All I can tell you is that I cannot believe what came out of my nose this morning.  It was like something from a science fiction movie except this was real. I am almost certain he poked me in the brain at one point. Luckily, Jeff was there to calm me down. The pain was so severe (even with one Percocet and one Tylenol in my system) that I started shaking. Jeff sat in front of me and rubbed my legs and held my hand the whole time.

Seriously, this weekend was miserable, but Jeff makes the best nurse. He even washed my hair for me. He stayed up for 33 hours straight after my surgery because he insisted on watching me while I slept. He wrote up a schedule for taking pills and fixed me something to eat every time I had to take more medicine. I think I fell in love with him all over again. I avoid being overly sentimental, but I just cannot help it. He went above and beyond the call of duty for me. One of the best parts of this weekend was spending so much time with Jeff. He slept on the floor beside me. We watched a LOT of TV together. And not once did I worry about grading papers or doing work.

Oh, and it feels pretty glorious to breathe again.

Currently, I am sitting here in yoga pants and one of Jeff's shirts (mine hit my nose and cause quite the discomfort when I try to put them over my head. I'm special.). I don't think anyone needs pictures of that mess, so I am showing you another outfit I'm thinking about packing for Dallas. Thoughts?

I was inspired by both the Pantone Challenge (radiant orchid is today's color) and April Challenge ("fringe" is today's challenge).

The Look:
Shirt: The Limited
Blazer: Express
Pants: The Limited
Necklace: Francesca's (I thought this necklace qualified as "fringe")
Shoes: via Kohl's
Belt: The Limited

I also wore the pants this way...
(I guess I stuck with the same color scheme?)

I stuck to a more neutral palette with this look.

I also wore the blazer this way...

And this way...
(Yes, I have had hair colors other than blonde.)

Today, I'm also linking up with

  1. Danielle, you look amazing in these outfits! I'm so glad you decided to link up. I love that you paired Radiant Orchid with another vibrant color. Also, wow! You've been through a LOT recently; I hope you are feeling much better. It's so sweet of your husband to be so attentive. :)

  2. That sounds miserable! But I am so happy to hear how well you have been taking care of - I mean, he went above and beyond for REALS. I'm glad your on the mend, and that your nose is not full of crazy stuff anymore.

In other news, the outfit is totally hot. Love the pants and the necklace!

  3. Oh my goodness... you poor thing!!! I am so sorry you had to go through such misery with your sinuses and nose. :( I'm happy, though, to hear that your husband is such a winner and took such good care of you! I do hope you continue to have a peaceful and speedy recovery!!
I love this outfit you put together... and my favorite part is definitely the orchid top! So pretty! And that necklace is SO cool!

    xo Always, Abby

  4. uuuggghhh, I can't imagine how miserable that must be. But hopefully this means you will feel better and not have as much trouble in the future. And I'm glad you have a husband to take good care of you!

    Also this outfit = HOTTTTT!

  5. I really thought you were going to post a picture of your nasty-ness. I'm glad you didn't. I hope you are back to 100% asap!

  6. Oh. I feel for you. My husband had that surgery a few years back and I felt so helpless for him. The funny(??) thing is my son hit him in the nose with a baseball a few years after the surgery- so he had to have more surgery. Don't get near any baseballs.....I love that necklace with the blouse and jacket. Cah-yute!

  7. Oh no that all sounds super awful, and I really hope you feel MUCH better soon. At least having the surgery means that you can feel better eventually. Take the time you need to rest up and get better! And yeah, this whole outfit is a winner for sure. I'm especially loving that necklace and that you've matched your lip color with your top!

  8. I'm glad you are healing and feeling better after your surgery. Your husband sounds so sweet to take such good care of you. I hope you'll be feeling much better soon.

The outfits are great. I love all the blue.

  9. I hope that you are felling better. That does not sound like much fun! I love the pants with the cobalt blazer. You put together some really nice combos! Susan

  10. fabulous outfits! i hope you are feeling better now, and seriously Jeff sounds amazeballs. love it.

  11. Oh poor Danielle. I really thought you were taking some days off from posting but then I saw this at Heidi's link-up. I am glad you posted it but I am sorry you are so sick. You have an excellent hubby to take care of you though and he definitely is A KEEPER!

This outfit is rocker-chic yet so colorful. Love the color-blocking you did on top. The Pants, Shoes & Necklace rock. But the thing I am digging the most is that Stunning Royal Blue Blazer (pinning this as I type). Definitely pack this with you to your trip coming up in May. Your trip falls around my Birthday so I am sending some of my luck - your way.

Have a Great and Fast Recovery!! <3 Ada.

  12. Omgsh sounds like quite a big ordeal--I will be saying prayers you heal up nicely and that it is all worth it in the end :) sounds like you have a fantastic hubby! And you might be in yoga pants right now, but I think the first outfit on here is my favorite I have ever seen on you--totally love the colors the fit the necklace--love it all!

  14. Dang Daneille! Those are definitely HOT PANTS! I'm loving these bright colors together. I hope they helped brighten your spirits while you recover. Love love this outfit on you.

  15. Yikes, that sounds miserable, Danielle :( I'm really, really glad that you had Jeff there to take care of you - he truly sounds like an amazing guy and perfect partner for you! Also, I'm feeling hopeful that your surgery will help you feel better as well. I've been thinking about you a lot!

As for your outfit...yep, definitely take it to Dallas. You look hottt (triple t - that's really hot).

Feel free to throw some witticisms my way.
